About Us
We're putting the "community" back in community banking.
See why it is better to bank with TCB.
Community Commitment
The Claxton Bank is a community bank through and through. Since we opened our doors in 1941, The Claxton Bank has been a proud neighbor in Claxton and surrounding counties. We have a vested interest in the communities we serve, because we are locally owned and locally run. This is where we live, and this is where we work. It is our community too. We continue volunteering our time, resources, and leadership abilities, not because it looks good, or as some PR gimmick, but because we want to see this community flourish and prosper. A strong vibrant community is good for everybody, and we are happy to constantly do our part to make our home a better place. Our commitment to community runs deep. We work hard to be a good neighbor by sponsoring and hosting initiatives that make our community a better place.
Our Community Initiatives
Every year The Claxton Bank comes together with South Georgia Bank, and Tippens Bank to end hunger by competing to see who can collect the most food goods. TCB organized this event in 2020 as a friendly competition for bragging rights between community banks, and since then the event has collected over 7,000 units of food and several thousand dollars in donations, all of which goes to the Evans County Christian Food Bank. This event alone feeds the hungry in our community for almost half the year.
Each year, The Claxton Bank partners with the American Red Cross to sponsor the Deposit For Life Blood Drive at the Claxton Veterans Community Center. This July event calls on community members to deposit into the blood drive in exchange for a deposit into their bank account. For customers who participate, TCB deposits $50.00 into their checking account. “At TCB, we relish the power of community. This year’s blood drive promotion is aimed at the heart of our circle of influence, our customers. There are no better people in the world and we can’t wait to see the results we can achieve for the American Red Cross together,” said Williams.
The Claxton Bank awards scholarships each year to two outstanding graduates of Pinewood Christian Academy and Claxton High School in the amount of $1,250 each. Since 2015, the scholarships have been awarded in memory of Mr. Ralph A Dixon, a former educator, successful local businessman and the Bank’s majority shareholder until his passing in 2014 at the age of 99. Mr Dixon was so very proud of Claxton and Evans County. He took particular pride in his investments in the area and in the lives of people who now serve and lead locally. That same spirit of investment for the future gives the Directors, Shareholders and Employees of TCB great pride in presenting these scholarships to deservings seniors.
Featured Event
Battle of the Banks Food Drive
The results are in, and the Claxton Bank was crowned the winner of the 2nd Annual Battle of the Banks Food Drive for the second year in a row, by raising the most food and monetary donations. All three local areas banks, TCB, South Georgia Bank, and Tippins Bank, raised a total of 3,524 units of food and $1,520 cash donations. The real winners are the families who will be helped by all the donations. Even though this is a ‘competition,’ the goal is to help as many people as possible. The amount of donations that we were all able to raise together are more important than the individual results. This event has been such a resounding success for the Evans County Christian Food Bank, that we have decided to make it an annual event. Check back in November of 2022 for details on the 3rd Annual Battle of the Banks Food Drive.
